On September 14, 100 volunteers from the Memphis chapter of HOPE worldwide partnered with the Mid-South Chapter of the Red Cross, the Memphis Fire Department, the Memphis Police Department, and the Promise Land Church for a Sept 11th Day of Service (activities to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary on the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, paying tribute to and honoring the victims and heroes of that day) in the Frayser Community (North Memphis, Tennessee).  The Promise Land Church provided the staging grounds for the “Protecting Our Neighbors” Fire Prevention Safety Blitz.  Click for more and to see the photo gallery….

The purpose of the event was two-fold in which the group wanted to go door-to-door (reaching a total of 250 homes) to bring awareness to fire prevention (to install smoke alarms & replace batteries) and afterwards to hold an “I Will” luncheon in which two Memphis Firefighters (with the TN Task Force One group) for their service at the Pentagon during 9-11 were recognized.
